Empowering Women in Agriculture: Annie’s Project 101 Offers Educational Support for Farm Business Success

Women play a vital role in many family farms. They serve as business partners, bookkeepers, family managers, laborers, and so much more. It is crucial that they have the education and support to weigh in on farm management-related decisions. Annie’s Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational programs designed to strengthen women’s roles in modern agricultural enterprises whose mission is to empower farm women to be better business partners through networks and by managing and organizing critical information.

Illinois Extension is partnering with Annie’s Project to offer Annie’s Project 101 starting February 11. The course is a discussion-based workshop bringing women together to learn from experts in production, financial management, human resources, marketing, and the legal field. There's plenty of time for questions, sharing, reacting, and connecting with your presenters and fellow participants. It's a relaxed, fun, and dynamic way to learn, grow, and meet other farmwomen.

Annie’s Project is based on the life of an Illinois farm woman. Annie spent her lifetime learning to be an involved business partner with her farm husband. Together, they did great things, but it wasn’t easy. Annie’s Project uses a methodology that builds confidence, develops networks, and creates lifelong learners among women farmers, ranchers, and growers.

This six-workshop series will meet weekly from 5-8 p.m., February 11 through March 8, at the Washington County Education Center in Nashville. Advance registration is required by February 3 at go.illinois.edu/AnniesProjectWinter2025 or by calling Makayla at 618-548-1446.
