Marshall-Putnam 4-H Hunting and Outdoor Skills Club to start this fall

Just in time for the hunting season, Marshall-Putnam 4-H Hunting and Outdoor Skills will be starting the club this fall.

Beginner club meets Saturday, September 10 & 17.

Intermediate club meets Sunday, September 11 & 18.

Advance club meets September 25, January 15 and April 23.

Each session is 9am - 4pm at the Putnam County Conservation District in McNabb.

Bring a sack lunch and water. Wear clothes that can get wet and dirty!

What will be covered:

Beginner sessions: Safety, day pack, wilderness, first aid, fire starters, teepee fire, moving quietly in the woods, solar still, water purification, creek bed tracking, primitive hunting, wild edibles and awareness.

Intermediate sessions: Survival shelter (debris hut), compass & maps, signs, scat, blood tracking, and camouflage (prepare to get muddy!).

Advanced sessions: Bow drill fires, hunting ethics, snow tracking, show shelters, fish spears, and outdoor cooking.

Enrollment in 4-H is required which is $20. The fee for this SPIN club is $15. Call the M-P Extension office to register at 309-364-2356. Space is limited.
