Stewardship Week

Body

Stewardship Week is held at Dixon Springs Ag Center every spring and has successfully exposed grade school kids in the southern Illinois region to a wide variety of outdoor careers and opportunities for over 30 years. We always schedule the event to coincide with the date of Earth Day (third week of April)! There are three days of educational fun lined up for K-6th grade students. Teachers in Southern Illinois can register their classes to be apart of the presentations that involve general outdoor topics. Natural Resource professionals set up stations ranging from the US Forest Service stations demonstrating Fire Prevention, Leave No Trace, and Going Green to the nature hikes and the Illinois State Geological Survey station on earth science.  Other popular stations that we provide every year are the Maple Syrup Production, Reptile/Amphibian, Conservation Police Officer, Wetlands, Watershed, Pollinators, and Mining Natural Resources in Southern Illinois. Since 1990, over 74,000 students have been apart of the magic of Stewardship Week!
