Explore the Little Grand Canyon Trail loop on this interpretive hike with moderately difficult terrain and often slick rocks of around 3 miles. We’ll start at 9:30am and end at approximately 1:00pm on April 12, 2026. We’ll enjoy the views looking out on the Big Muddy and Mississippi River Valleys while learning about the flora and fauna along the way. This trail winds through a variety of habitats, from cool hollows to dry exposed uplands, so we are likely to encounter a wide range of plants and wildlife on this hike.
We’ll meet at the Little Grand Canyon Trailhead (37.68029, -89.39511). This hike will be co-led by Kevin Rohling, Extension Specialist, and Kim Rohling, Extension Educator, and is a collaborative hike offered by the Shawnee Group of the Sierra Club and Illinois Extension. Sorry, no pets allowed.
