Designed for young people new to cooking and baking, 4-H Cooking 101 offers an engaging introduction to essential kitchen skills in a fun, supportive environment. The program helps youth develop confidence while learning the basics of food preparation, kitchen safety, and nutrition.
The three-day, hands-on program will be held June 2–4 from 9 to 11 a.m. each day at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Carlyle. Participants will learn by doing as they prepare simple recipes and practice fundamental skills that can be used at home.
Throughout the sessions, youth will gain experience measuring ingredients, following recipes, and using kitchen tools safely. In addition to developing practical cooking skills, participants will build an understanding of nutrition and the importance of food safety, helping them make healthier choices in their daily lives.
4-H Cooking 101 is open to youth ages 8–18 (as of September 1, 2025) who are interested in learning more about cooking, regardless of prior experience. The program is free, making it an ideal opportunity for youth to explore new skills and interests.
Space is limited, and advance registration is required by May 18. To register, visit: https://4h.zsuite.org/event-registrations/46300
