Yellow Fever
Yellow fever illness is concentrated in Africa and South America. Vaccines protect travelers to those areas. Most complications from Yellow Fever are mild, though it can lead to organ failure and death. Common symptoms include fever and chills, headache, back pain and body aches, vomiting, and exhaustion. Extreme cases include a yellowing of the skin or eyes, bleeding, and organ failure. Yellow Fever is spread by infected mosquitoes, not through human contact.
Yellow Fever Vaccine
If you plan to travel to South America or Africa, you should receive one dose of the vaccine. Some countries require vaccination against Yellow Fever before entering.
