 We are glad to have you onboard. On this page, you will find several onboarding components and resources to help you be successful in your role in our organization.

New Staff Orientation

2024 NSO: Champaign, IL

As a new Extension Employee, you are invited to the New Staff Orientation, held on the U of I Campus each quarter. This event will familiarize new staff with the Extension mission and values, fostering a collaborative environment. During the orientation, you'll discover your strengths and understand how you can positively impact Extension work. Don't miss the chance to obtain your Icard and explore the vibrant U of I campus. Remember, it's essential for new employees like you to complete this training within the first nine months of your extension employment.

Are you an Academic Professional or Civil Service Staff? If you do not know, ask someone before you move on.

Academic Professional – Three Day Orientation

As a new Extension Employee, you are invited to the New Staff Orientation, held on the University of Illinois Campus, Champaign, IL, each quarter. This event will familiarize new staff with the Extension mission and values, fostering a collaborative environment. During the orientation, you'll discover your strengths and understand how you can positively impact Extension work. Don't miss the chance to obtain your Icard and explore the vibrant U of I campus.

Day 1 & 2- General Orientation- it's essential for new employees like you to complete this training within the first nine months of your extension employment.

Day 3- Academic Professional Essential Training- AP field staff must complete all four quarterly training sessions within two years of employment. The series covers Program Planning and Assessment, Facilitation, Meaningful and Engaging Learning Experiences, and Community Partnerships.

Civil Service Staff - Two Day Orientation

Onboarding Course

Welcome to Extension is an onboarding space designed to give you essential information about working at the University of Illinois as a member of Illinois Extension. This course is designed to introduce new Extension staff to our organization. In addition to an introduction to Extension’s history, vision, and purpose, new staff will learn about each program area, employee benefits, I.T. support, branding, and organizational structure.

All new employees are expected to complete this course within six weeks of beginning employment.

Welcome to Extension Onboarding course.

Go to Learn @ Illinois Extension

1. Scroll to the bottom and select the "University of Illinois Staff Login" button

  • If you have not yet logged into any university sites, you will be asked to login with your NetID and password
  • If you have already logged into a university site, you will be logged into the Learn @ Illinois Extension site

2. Once logged into the site, since it is your first time there, you will need to fill in your first and last name (required) and any other information you would like to provide (optional).

3. Confirm your account information by selecting the "Update profile" button at the bottom.

4. Upon updating your profile, you will be taken to the enrollment page for the course.

5. Enter the onboarding key "UIE2023" and select "enroll me"
