University of Illinois Extension is a statewide network of professionals dedicated to creating local community impact and statewide transformation. We do this by translating research and knowledge into practical programs for Illinois residents. Our programs target youth and adults, individuals and families, as well as business owners and community leaders.

Part-time Summer 2025 Positions
We are excited to announce that we have two 20-hour per-week summer positions available to assist our 4-H team with all aspects of the county 4-H fairs and summer programming. These positions offer a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience while contributing to our community.
Position Overview:
- Duration: 12 weeks
- Location: Coles OR Cumberland County Extension Offices
- Function: Assist with the county 4-H Show and summer programming
- $15.00/hour
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with all judging events before and during the 4-H Show, including managing locations, promotions, volunteers, and awards.
- Contact volunteers to judge projects and assist at the 4-H Show. This includes sending letters, making phone calls, maintaining a database, and interacting with volunteers.
- Help Extension staff during the 4-H Show with check-in, setting up judging areas, and entering grades into the 4-H database.
- Collaborate with the 4-H Youth Development Educator and other Summer Assistants to plan and deliver an educational summer outreach program.
- Assist Extension staff with other activities as needed.
- Ensure compliance with Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity policies and guidelines.
Work Schedule:
- Hours: 20 hours per week, with some evenings and weekends required. During 4-H fair week, hours may increase to 37.5 hours per week.
