Illinois 4-H State Rifle Shoot

Compete with the best shooter in the state for prizes and a chance to advance to national competition at the National 4-H Shooting Sports competition in Grand Island, Nebraska. More than 50 teens will compete in the full-day event. Competition includes both air rifle and .22 smallbore rifle. 

2020 Event

Date: October 10 & 11 at Central Illinois Precision Shooters, Bloomington, IL

Cost: $20 due at time of registration; $20 range fee due the day of the event

Schedule:

  • 8 to 9 AM – Registration
  • 9 to 9:15 AM – General Safety Program and Pledges
  • 9:15 to 9:30 AM – Shooting Begins
  • Noon – Lunch
  • Shooting Resumes
  • Shooting ends around 4 to 5 PM
  • Awards program will be at the end of Day 2 unless matches have been completed on Day 1.

The schedule may change if participant numbers require changes.

Eligibility

The state shoot is open to youth who will be 4-H members during the 2020-21 4-H year and are members of a certified 4-H Shooting Sports 4-H Club in their county in the discipline they are competing. Youth must be at least 14 years of age by Jan. 1, 2021. Maximum Age for State Contest: Youth cannot be 19 years of age or older by Sept. 1, 2020. Maximum Age for National Team: Youth cannot be 19 years of age by Jan. 1, 2021. Youth in their last year of 4-H who were 18 on Sept. 1, 2020, but who turn 19 in September, October, November, or December of 2020 may participate in the state contest but cannot be selected for the national contest.
