Ewing Agronomy Field Day

After a year’s hiatus from in-person programming, the Ewing Demonstration Center is excited to host their annual Agronomy Field Day on Thursday, July 22, 2021, from 9 a.m. to noon with a lunch to follow. The event will feature various educators and campus faculty as they provide best management practices for local growers.

Ewing Demonstration Center has served the agricultural community of southern Illinois since 1910. Research at the center includes various trials for corn, soybeans, sorghum, wheat, and cover crops. The center has featured no-till research and demonstration plots for more than 50 years as it offers representative growing conditions for southern Illinois. The event will feature the following speakers:

Nick Seiter, Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist, Field Crop Entomology

Andrew Margenot, University of Illinois Assistant Professor, Soil Fertility

Nathan Johanning, Commercial Agriculture Extension Educator

Talon Becker, Commercial Agriculture Extension Educator

The Ewing Demonstration Center is about 20 minutes south of Mt. Vernon, located at 16132 N. Ewing Rd in Ewing, IL. The center is on the north edge of the village of Ewing, north of the Ewing Grade School. Additional signage will be posted near the center.

The field day is free, and lunch will be provided. Certified Crop Advisor CEUs will also be offered. Register at go.illinois.edu/ewing or call (618) 439-3178.
