Join the University of Illinois Extension Natural Resource, Environment, and Energy Educator Jay Solomon for a program on “Plants in the Energy Landscape.” This program is a continuation of the Spring Break Gardening Series. There is no charge to attend this program, but pre-registration is requested.

“As we are seeing more and more things come to life and more green in our landscapes, now is the time to think about how you might incorporate plants into your landscape to help improve your energy efficiency,” states Solomon. With thoughtful placement, plants can improve comfort, safety, and energy use of buildings in addition to adding beauty. Some ways they can do this are by providing shade for surfaces, wind-blocking, snow and ice deterrent, and reducing water use. Join Solomon as he discusses how you might go about this process while doing your landscape planning.

If you need a reasonable accommodation to attend this program please call the Extension Office at 815-858-2273. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time to meet your needs.
