Students deserve healthy, nutritious foods.
Local school food service staff can learn how to better serve their students through School Lunch Rocks. The program is part of the ABCs of School Nutrition program, a partnership between University of Illinois Extension and the Illinois State Board of Education. It supports all school nutrition professionals – from frontline workers to school administrators.
The program is August 2, from 8:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. at John A. Logan College. The session covers production records, recipes for school cafeterias, and recipe and idea sharing. Staff can earn up to four hours of USDA Professional Standards credit as they learn best practices for food service and meal planning.
An additional training opportunity will be offered on October 11. Both programs are free, but registration is required. Reserve your spot at go.illinois.edu/LunchRocks2024.
