Add a pop of color to gray winter months with indoor plants

MURPHYSBORO, Ill. – Adding a pop of color to the gray winter months helps combat depression that often accompanies long periods of time without sunshine. Learn to care for indoor tropical plants during a free webinar at 2 p.m. Dec. 17, presented by University of Illinois Extension.

"Growing and maintaining tropical plants is a fun and rewarding way to liven up our homes," says Extension horticulture educator Austin Little. "As we enter the winter season, we may be spending a lot more time indoors, which provides an excellent opportunity to start growing or add to a collection of indoor tropical plants."

The online webinar covers the basics of tropical plants, maintenance and care, and tips on keeping our tropical plants happy. Participants will also take a  virtual tour of the Plant Biology Greenhouse at Southern Illinois University, which houses one of the most extensive collections of tropical plants in Illinois.

This program is free, but registration is required. If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in this program, please contact Austin Little at little84@illinois.edu. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time for meeting your access needs.
