Dixon Springs Ag Center to Host Beef Field Day

DIXON SPRINGS, Ill.— The annual Beef Field Day at the University of Illinois Dixon Springs Agricultural Center (DSAC) will be on Tuesday, July 30.  A variety of topics on beef cattle will be provided.

Topics to be presented this year include: management and/or control of invasive plants (Chris Evans - Extension Forester, UIUC NRES), ticks (new and old species) and disease carried by them and provide an update on the anaplasmosis research (Teresa Steckler – Illinois Extension Educator), short presentations from the six I-BELIEF Fellows that work at DSAC, Orr Beef Research Center, and campus, and introduction of the new interim AnSci farm manager – Lucas Neira.    

The program will start at 5 p.m. and concludes with a complimentary dinner prepared by the Shawnee Beef Association.  There is no charge to attend the Beef Field Day; however, for an accurate food count please pre-register by Friday, July 26. If dietary or disability accommodations are needed, participants need to indicate when registering.
