Jackson County 4-H youth honored at achievement night

Carbondale, Ill. – Achievement night is an opportunity to recognize 4-H club members and volunteers for all their accomplishments. This year’s event highlighted some of the youth in our community for the work they have done over the past year.

The evening began by recognizing 4-H members that served as secretaries for their club. Those honored were: Zaeshon Bellamy, Austin Froemling, Brayden Wilson, Ryle Robinson, and Amelia Sager

The youngest members were also recognized for their participation in 4-H. Jackson County Cloverbud members are Chivalry Ayres, Brantley Beckman, Gabriella Beckman, Israel Clutts, Austin Froemling, Logan Froemling, Johanna Fuhrhop, Edie Heins, Jenny Jeremiah, Lilly Lowery, Isaac Marquith, Aniyah Mchenry, Colby Richelman, Remi Sager, Kamille Smith, and Aubrey Wilson.

Outstanding Members
4-H members were recognized for their participation in activities and events throughout the year.  Members are recognized for their experience in the areas of participation, leadership, community service and project learning. Awards given included:

Bronze Award- Zayd Aiti, Allie Ayers, Juju Ayres, Zaeshon Bellamy, Jaycee Crowden, Gavin Pulcher, and Marriah Trammell.

Silver Award- Taym Aiti, Tillie Ayres, Verity Ayres, Lance Carnes, Elijah Clutts, Bryce Ehlers, Brody Fisher, Josie Fisher, Caleb Fredrickson, Isaac Fredrickson, James Froemling, Caleb Gao, Isaiah Jones, Ruth Jones, Lance Lowery, Levi Lowery, Madeleine Myers, Lola Pierson, Maddie Pulcher, Blayke Richelman, Ryleigh Richelman, Everett Snyder, and Lincoln Snyder.

Junior Leadership Award
Junior leaders were recognized for stepping up and taking on additional responsibilities, helping with 4-H Federation and county activities. Youth recognized were:

Project Award
Amber Gass (Animal Science), Michelle Wang (Careers and Leadership), Ethan Womble (Civic Engagement), Ruth Jones (Creative Arts), James Froemling (Environment), Bryce Ehlers (Food Systems), Zaeshon Bellamy (Healthy Living), and Isaiah Jones (STEM).

Additional awards were given for community service and leadership. The community service award was given to Ethan Womble and the leadership award was given to Brayden Wilson.

4-H Spirit Award- Anaiya Caraway and Brianna Carnes

Activity Awards
Members could apply to receive an award of $150 that they can use towards any 4-H state or national experience. Awardees included:
Caleb Gao, Erick Wagner Jr., and Ethan Womble.

Volunteer Award
Adult volunteers were recognized for their part in making Jackson County 4-H programs and clubs a success. Among those honored were Yolanda Dean, Nickie Heins, Kelly Jones, and Carmetha Waddy-Rice who have contributed 10 years of service to 4-H youth development programming.

Additional honorees were: Shannon Beaty-Dingus, Chris Clausen, Yolanda Dean, Nickie Heins, Mary Huseman, Kelly Jones, Amanda Lowery, Rick Pierson, Janelle Pulcher, Jennie Snyder, Luke Stegmann, Jacqui Trammell, and Carmetha Waddy-Rice.

Additional awards were given to Chris Clausen for one year of volunteering and Carmetha Waddy-Rice for the Alumni award.

4-H empowers young people with the skills to lead for a lifetime. Through 4-H, youth complete hands-on projects in areas like health, science, agriculture and citizenship in a positive environment where they receive guidance from adult mentors and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles.
