DUQUOIN, Ill. —Local FFA and 4-H members competed in a livestock judging contest at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds on Saturday, March 7.
Livestock judging is the evaluation of an animal's characteristics and making a comparison to other animals and the ideal standard of that particular class. Many of the participating youth will go on to showcase their own livestock at local fairs this summer.
Local FFA high schools represented: Anna-Jonesboro, Century, Cobden, Dongola, DuQuoin, Elverado, Goreville, Meridian, Pinckneyville, Trico and Woodlawn. Counties representing 4-H: Clinton, Jackson, Massac, Monroe, Perry, Pulaski, Randolph, Union, Washington and White.
Prizes were awarded to the top three scores within the junior and senior categories. The 2020 winners included:
