Local Youth Place in Horse Show

MURPHYSBORO, Ill.— Local 4-H members in Jackson, Perry and Randolph counties recently participated in their annual horse show. The 4-H horse projects and activities provide a hands-on opportunity for youth to explore raising and showing horses while developing life skills. These projects are designed to provide you an opportunity to handle, care for and ride horses as well as learn about the equine industry.

With the constant rain in the region, the outdoor arena could not be used for the show. Katelan Eddleman at the Shawnee Arena and Stables stepped in and allowed the group to use their space so the event could go on as scheduled. The event was judged by Alexis Rodgers and the following individuals received awards:

  • Grand Champion- Amber Gass of Murphysboro, Ill
  • Junior Showmanship- Amber Gass of Murphysboro, Ill
  • Reserve Grand Champion- Madison Bennett of Murphysboro, Ill
  • Senior Showmanship- Shealee Swisher of Campbell Hill, Ill

Congratulations to all of this year’s participants!
