The University of Illinois Extension Unit 19 Master Gardeners wil present their 11th Annual "Spring Into Gardening" workshop Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 8 am - Noon at the Home Church, located at 2350 Madison Ave., Charleston, IL.  Doors will open at 8:00 am for check-in.  Our fabulous silent auction items will be on display, and delicious refreshments will be available throughout the morning.  The speakers will begin promptly at 8:30 am.  Registration closes on February 13, or when spaces have been filled.  The cost is $25.00 per person. Topics:

Carla Honselman – “Making a Healthy Difference – Nutrition and Gardening” – Examine many ways gardening and nutrition interact, including health benefits of gardening, gardening for nutrition and ways gardeners can make a difference.

Ryan Pankau – “Tree Care and Urban Soils” – Explore the attributes of urban soils in contrast to undisturbed forest soils.  Ryan will discuss diagnosis of abiotic tree stresses related to soil problems and practical ways to assess urban soil health, as well as current tree care techniques to address these problems.

Five Feline Farm – “To Market, to Market, to Buy a Fat Fig” – Donna Coonce and Julia Miller will cover everything you need to know to be a star consumer at your local farmer’s market.  You may even pick up tips on how to set up your own market business.
