4-H Science and STEM Fair

Notes on the Event Schedule Change
The impact of the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) continues to create uncertainty and concern both globally and here in our community. Following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, the University of Illinois has implemented social-distancing protocols that impact all university events. Illinois Extension, as the outreach program of the university, aligns with all policies related to public health and safety. Effective immediately, ALL face-to-face events organized by Illinois Extension have been cancelled, suspended, or transitioned to online delivery. This will apply to all events previously scheduled through May 31, 2020. This plan may change based on guidance and direction provided by the local public health department. Look for specific information about other cancellations and postponements on our website at https://extension.illinois.edu/dkk (look for communications updated regularly on our homepage). We are working to support all Illinois families at this time. We appreciate your understanding as we navigate this situation.

Want to put your ideas and skills to the test? Join 4-H and Parkview Christian Academy for the 3rd annual multi-community Science Fair & STEM Showcase.

Science fair projects don’t have to be stuffy or boring! They can examine almost anything a student has an interest in, from slime to music to a certain situation involving deflated footballs. The third annual Community-Wide Science & STEM Showcase is a wonderful way for youth to explore the world around them, and experience all the benefits of a science fair or STEM demonstration project. These fairs promote more than science; they also encourage organization, communication and public speaking skills.

Designed for students in 4th to 12th grades, participants may choose the demonstration option or the science fair option* (which must follow the Scientific Method).

All participants will receive a fair/showcase guide. $10 per entry. For more details or to learn how to register, visit http://go.illinois.edu/science4Hdkk

*The top Science Fair entries will win fun technology as prizes, donated by 4-H & PCA Supporters
