Increase the shelf-life of your food.

You have spent many hours tending your garden and the produce rolls in during peak growing season, but how can you enjoy it longer? Preserving your home grown goodies will provide a taste bud oasis in the middle of those long winter months. Please join us for a live canning demonstration where will provide the tools to help you get started on your canning journey.

Canning methods have changed over the years to improve the safety of the foods we store. The process may seem overwhelming and intimidating to those with limited experience, but food preservation doesn’t have to be difficult. Nutrition and Wellness Educator Mary Liz Wright will lead the informative program, and she will discuss:

  • Different types of canning
  • Canning safety rules
  • What can be canned
  • Live canning demo

The program is free, but we ask that you register. Visit go.illinois.edu/HomesteadingCanning or call (618) 687-1727 to reserve your spot.
