Join us in an exhiting research project investigating how forest management techniques impact the diverse world of moths, beetles, and other flying insects! We're looking for volunteers to team up with Extension Forester Kevin Rohling and Horticulture Educator Kim Rohling. Dive into the study by sorting and categorizing insect samples collected from various forest management sites. This critical research sheds light on the insects that inhabit our forests and plays a pivotal role in conserving endangered species like the Indiana bat and chuck-wills-widow.

Your role will involve sorting insect samples by order (lepidoptera, coleoptera, and others) to uncover differences between different forest management practices. Additionally, you'll help prepare and mount specimens for display in insect collections, which will serve as educational tools for both researchers and the public for generations to come. Don't miss this chance to be part of groundbreaking research that will shape the future of forest conservation!

Choose the location and shift(s) that work best for you, and don't hesitate to join us for more than one shift! You are also welcome to bring a lunch or take a lunch break at a local restaurant.

Contact Kevin Rohling with your questions at krohling@illinois.edu. Register by August 4 at go.illinois.edu/InsectSort.
