University of Illinois Extension continues to make a difference in our Lake and McHenry counties.

  • Master Gardener volunteers supported 18 community gardens, resulting in 25,754 pounds of food donated to local pantries, a 24% increase from the previous year.
  • With Lake County's new Master Naturalist program and both counties' Master Gardener programs, 7,793 community members attended 134 educational sessions, a 55% increase from the previous year.
  • Local 4-H programs reached community youth with important life skills with 749 club memberships and 8,271 experiences.
  • Our SNAP-Education team held 204 education classes with over 5,303 nutrition education participants, a 71% increase from the previous year.
  • Over 60 Policy systems and environmental changes were adopted by SNAP-Ed partner organizations, a 81% increase from the previous year.
