Learning from home made easier with new webpage

University of Illinois Extension in Henderson, Knox, McDonough and Warren counties has launched a new webpage to assist in learning from home. The resource webpage was developed to provide teachers, parents, and caregivers an easy way to find online materials that can help engage their children in a variety of learning experiences.

Shelby Carlson, 4-H youth development educator said, “I’m really excited that the resources page is live. We have worked hard to create a central location where teachers, parents, and caregivers can all find quality educational resources. I can’t wait to hear how these resources are used.”

The webpage can be found here. It is divided into the following sections:

  • Find out what Illinois Extension offers for parents and teachers in the local programs that are offered.
  • Hands-on Activities provides links for activities that make learning fun. There are hundreds of experiments, projects, and crafts to explore. Some of the activities would be great for family nights throughout the winter months.
  • Robotics & Coding provides resources that will help your child or student reach the next level. Learn to code, create arcade games, or build a static webpage or node.
  • The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math section is divided by grade level. Whether you are looking for new STEAM activity or wanting something to challenge your child or students this section is sure to have something for you.
  • Staying Healthy offers links to make health fun. Children are never too young to learn about healthy living habits and healthy eating.
  • The Subject Learning section provides vast resources covering a variety of subjects. From online learning and lesson plans to PowerPoints and videos, these resources can be used to help teach an area of interest
  • Adventure awaits in the Virtual Tours section. Watch live cams from zoos all over the United States, view art and treasures from museums, or tour places far from Illinois such as Yellowstone National Park, Ellis Island, or The Great Wall of China.
