Notes on the Event Schedule Change

The impact of COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) continues to create uncertainty and concern both globally and here in our community. In accordance with University of Illinois policy, Illinois Extension has deployed public health strategies designed to protect everyone’s health and safety. Effective Friday, March 13, all university-sponsored events with more than 50 anticipated attendees are suspended indefinitely.

Thank you for your interest in 2020 Russell Allen Garden Day that will be held on Saturday, March 28th. This event is dedicated to Russel Allen who was a charter Logan County Master Gardener. This program is provided in his memory.

Before you begin, please view the workshop descriptions.

The event will be held at Oasis Senior Center, 2810 Woodlawn Road, Lincoln, IL.

Space is limited to 90 participants. First come-first served. Early registration closes on March 20 or when all spots are filled.

Terrific Tree

Trees are the "bones" of any landscape. Learn about under-used trees and shrubs that perform well in Central Illinois. The focus will be on trees with few problems that provide interest for more than one season

Hydroponic Gardening

Learn how you can start your own at-home hydroponic garden. Vertical growing systems are perfect for balconies and patios where space is limited. Maintenance is minimal, the plants grow faster than in soil, and they use 90% less water. This hour workshop will teach the basics about growing in a hydroponic system as opposed to soil, and provide an in-depth look at the tower hydroponic system used at our farm.
