This year's topics explore the following:

9 a.m. Even Natives Can Misbehave, Elizabeth Wahle, U of I Extension Educator

Most of us know native plants are an essential component of our landscape. But, did you know some native plants can misbehave or die if not sited correctly and cared for? Join Elizabeth as she discusses the finer details of some of our native plants; those that can take their half of the middle and those that are challenging to establish. Lastly, Elizabeth will share some of her favorites and why.

10 a.m. Designing Containers with Tropicals and Annuals, Sandy Richter, Sandy's Back Porch

MIX IT UP! It's not just for cocktails! Infuse your container gardens with a taste of the tropics for combos that will splash up your landscape.

11 a.m. Native Garden Design, Susie Van de Riet, St. Louis Native Plants, LLC

Native Garden Design is much like composing a symphony--it includes the bringing together of many moving parts, which produce a purposeful, larger composition. In this presentation, learn some basics on how to be the composer and conductor of your own native garden through site planning, plant selection, design principles and maintenance techniques.
