2026 Illinois Extension Summer Internship Program

Illinois Extension is accepting applications for the 2026 Extension Internship Program, a paid, 10-week summer opportunity for college and community college students interested in gaining hands-on experience while making a positive impact in their communities.

Interns work alongside Extension professionals on real-world projects and educational programming in areas such as youth development, agriculture, health and wellness, community development, and natural resources.

Program Details

  • Duration: 10 weeks (June 1–August 7, 2026)
  • Compensation: $17 per hour
  • Locations: Madison, Monroe, and St. Clair Counties
  • Academic credit may be available, depending on institution's requirements

Eligibility Requirements

  • Enrolled at an accredited university or community college
  • Enrolled during the Spring 2026 semester
  • Minimum overall GPA of 2.5
