Youth ages 14-18 are invited to a week-long program to learn about disaster preparedness. Participants will meet June 3-7, 2024 from 9 a.m. - noon at the Williamson County Fire Protection Station #1. Teens will be empowered in the face of an emergency by learning about disaster preparedness, fire safety & utility control, disaster medical operations, light search & rescue, and complete a disaster exercise.
My Preparedness Initiative (MyPI) is an award-winning youth preparedness and educational outreach program for teens. The innovative, hands-on program developed by Mississippi State University Extension fosters emergency preparedness, civic responsibility, and leadership in teens. During the summer course, teens will build life-saving skills and give back to their communities through a community service project.
The cost for the summer program is $20. Seating is limited, and teens should register by May 24 at go.illinois.edu/MyPISummit.
