What's the buzz on beekeeping?

Beekeeping is a multifaceted practice that offers numerous benefits to individuals, communities, and the environment. Illinois Extension is teaming up with Food Works of Southern Illinois to offer beekeeping 101 on August 15 at 5:30 p.m. at the Jackson County Extension Office. Kenny Fisher of Arrowhead Apiary will share his experience in beekeeping and discuss what to consider before getting bees, how to get and maintain bees, bee care, and how to harvest honey. This program would not be possible without the generous support of the Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP), which provides technical assistance and wrap-around support for transitioning and existing organic farmers.

The program is free, but we ask that you register. Visit go.illinois.edu/Beekeeping101 or call (618) 687-1727 to reserve your spot.
