Join the Virtual 4-H Cooking SPIN Club! 

If you love to cook and want to learn more, this is the club for you. You will be able to learn to cook in your own kitchen with a responsible adult, learn about kitchen safety, equipment, measurement and more, work on projects to prepare for fair judging, or if you are new to 4-H, try this club to see what 4-H is all about!

Classes are open to McHenry & Lake County youth, ages 8-18 as of September 1, 2024 are welcome to join! (Usually just finishing grades 3-12)

TWO classes are being offered on ZOOM: 

  1. Beginning Cooking Club members @ 10:00am via ZOOM - first time club participants
  2. Returning/Advanced Cooking Club members @ 11:15am via ZOOM - returning members or approved experienced cooks

Recipes/ingredients will be emailed to you in advance to allow time to add ingredients to your shopping list. You will be need to gather supplies and ingredients prior to the class and have access to a device with video viewing capabilities. 

This class is taught by 4-H Alumni, Frank Herff, and 4-H volunteer, Denise Woolridge. 

Current 4-H members and NEW to 4-H youth WELCOME! This is a great opportunity to try 4-H! Invite a friend to join!  

  • Current 4-H members- be sure you have added the Cooking SPIN Club to your 4-H ZSuite enrollment.
    • (If you are a Lake County 4-H member, you will need to add McHenry County to find the Club)
  • If you are NEW to 4-H, please be sure to enroll at: https://4h.zsuite.org  , (See Enrollment guide HERE),pay the $20 4-H enrollment fee online OR check payable to: University of Illinois Extension

  • There is NO deadline to join 4-H, however, to participate in this year’s 4-H Fair judging, members must be enrolled by the first class.
