4-H: Youth In Action By: Emma Wiseman Edwards County 4-H Ambassador
Why 4-H out of all the other youth organizations out there? 4-H allows your child to learn about
different subjects in a fun environment. Monthly club meetings help teach your child how meetings
are conducted in a low pressure situation. Talks and demonstrations help your child learn how to
speak in front of a group and prepare them for projects later in their school career. Different
events throughout the year will provide your child with lots of opportunities to make friends from
neighboring towns and counties.
What will my child learn in 4-H? Your child has the opportunity to take projects on a number of
different subjects. Depending on their interests, they can learn about almost anything from cooking
to robotics. They can select a project, and the projects build on themselves, so your child can
continue to take it from year to year if they chose. The Extension Office also hosts a variety of
workshops available to 4-H members throughout the year where you can learn about things both inside
and outside of their project area.
How do I find out more about 4-H? To learn more about 4-H, contact your county’s Extension Office,
