Last year was the beginning of the Barrow Boosters program for Edwards County 4-H members that would like to take a swine project. There were nine members that took advantage of the program.  The youth received their barrows in March of 2022 and had them ready for the Swine Show in July.  The kids did a great job of preparing and caring for their animals, for the show.

A year later, twelve youth have signed up, some of them are repeat participants. They gathered at the Edwards County 4-H hog barns on Saturday, March 25, to pick their barrow for the 2023 4-H Swine Show.  They picked by the number they drew from a hat.  Everyone will come out winners, they are “Learning by Doing”.

 Thanks to Swine Co-Chairpersons Derek Moore and Trent Thompson for establishing the   program. They are working their way to a stronger 4-H swine program. The swine show will be held on Tuesday, August 1, at 8:00 a.m.  We hope to see everyone there!
