Garden Walk 2019, hosted by the McHenry County Master Gardeners, will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 13 – rain or shine – starting at the Demonstration Garden at McHenry County College, 8700 U.S. 14 in Crystal Lake.
Visitors will see varied garden cultures of Crystal Lake and Cary at the annual event presented by University of Illinois Extension and MCC. The nine gardens range from Japanese gardens to gardens demonstrating the art of feng shui to a formal country garden.
Master Gardeners will be onsite at all gardens to answer questions as well as offer educational materials during the self-guided tour.
The Demonstration Garden at McHenry County College, the Garden Walk’s starting point, includes a vine garden, cool shadowy corners full of shade-loving plants, various theme gardens, and extensive displays of perennials and annuals. In addition, quiet hidden benches and nooks provide a place for reflection and contemplation. The demo garden is planted and tended by the Extension Master Gardeners.
Advance tickets cost $12 and may be purchased online at gardenwalk2019.bpt.me or through MCC by calling 815-455-8588.
All tickets must be picked up the day of the walk, when tickets will also available for $17 at the Demonstration Garden at MCC—Parking Lot C.
No ticket sales will be available from Wednesday, July 3, through Friday, July 12; no tickets will be mailed; no refunds; and no pets will be allowed.
