Menard County 4-H Scholarship Recipients Announced

The Menard County 4-H Scholarship Fund was established to provide a means of recognizing meritorious 4-H work, and furthering the education of Menard County 4-H Members. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of: interest to pursue a higher education, 4-H background, scholastic record, leadership abilities, reference evaluations, and community involvement.    

This year there are two scholarship recipients.

Jake O’Brien, son of Terry and Stacey O’Brien, is the recipient of a $1000 Menard County 4-H scholarship. Jake is a 9 year member of the West Menarder’s Ag 4-H Club, and a graduate of PORTA High School. He will be attending the University of Illinois in the Fall, with plans to major in Animal Science.

Dylan Fletcher, son of Jason and Angie Fletcher, is the recipient of a $1,500 4-H scholarship. Dylan is a 10 year member of the Athens Prairieland Ag 4-H Club, and a graduate of Athens High School. He will be attending Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville in the Fall, with plans to major in Medical Science.
