Scrumptious Science:  Returning in January

Scrumptious Science is returning for the second year, all youth ages 8-18, as of September 1, 2019, are welcome to attend. Edwards County Extension is sponsoring this four session series.  It will be held each Tuesday in January, (7, 14, 21, 28), in the Edwards County High School Home Economics room, from 3:30 – 5:30.  Youth will learn the diversity and science of cooking by participating in hands-on learning activities.  Proper sanitation methods and kitchen safety will be taught.  They will learn about leavening agents and how they provide structure in baked goods.  The participants will gain knowledge by experimenting with eggs and seeing the many functions that make eggs exceptional in food science.  Attendees will explore the chemical reaction behind enzymatic browning of fruit.  Registration can be completed online at HTTPS://EXTENSION.ILLINOIS.EDU/ELRWW or call the Extension office at 618-445-2934.
