Pledge your hands to larger service on 4-H National Day of Service, April 26, 2025!
Community service is a valued part of the Illinois Extension 4-H experience.
Join us on Saturday, April 26 from 1 to 3 p.m. as we continue for the third year in a row, planting an Oak Savannah at the Butterfly Farm in Orangeville, IL.
We will be planting 25 oak seedlings as part of the 4-H Green Communities Tree Program in collaboration with Stephenson County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Jane Addamsland Park Foundation. This tree planting experience will provide youth with an understanding of the benefits of planting an oak savanna within their community, learn how trees can make a difference in our changing climate, and understand how oak savannas provide wildlife habitat and help stabilize erodible soils.
This event is FREE; we ask you to register how many will be attending from your family so we have enough shovels and snacks.
