Grow your gardening knowledge and skills as we celebrate 50 years of Master Gardener impact through hands-on workshops, tours, and expert advice!

Join Master Gardeners as we explore urban agriculture at the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Food, Agriculture, Nutrition Innovation Center — we call it JJK FAN. This East St. Louis hub instills in those who gather how food, science, and innovation — working together — create lives and livelihoods so people thrive.

Participants will select a track for hands-on experiences at different stations. You can explore local foods and how the site is helping to increase food access in the community. Or you can discover how the location is overcoming challenges to create a more sustainable landscape.

  • Track A: Local Food - Stations include aquaponics, passive solar greenhouse, and retrofitting shipping containers.

  • Track B: Sustainable Landscaping - Stations include tree planting, stormwater management, and composting.

The event includes refreshments. Carpooling to the event is encouraged due to limited parking.
