Horse loving 4-H members will convene to test their knowledge at the Northwest Illinois Regional Horse Bowl and Hippology Contest! Spectators are welcome at the Horse Bowl Contest and for the awards ceremony in the afternoon. There is no cost to attend.
HORSE BOWL
Participants will demonstrate their knowledge of equine-related subject matter in a competitive setting. The contest operates very similarly to scholastic bowls at school, except all the questions relate to horses! Those who qualify at regional competitions may advance to state competition, scheduled for April 18, 2026, at the Urbana-Champaign campus of the University of Illinois.
HIPPOLOGY
The primary objective of the Hippology Contest is to provide an opportunity for youth enrolled in 4-H to demonstrate the breadth of their knowledge and understanding of equine science and, in particular, the practical application of this knowledge and skill. Participants may individually qualify for the state contest, scheduled for April 18, 2026, at the Urbana-Champaign campus of the University of Illinois.
