Growing annual plants in containers is an easy and impactful way to brighten a front door, add a welcoming accent to a porch or deck, or maximize color in small garden spaces. This spring, University of Illinois Extension is offering an educational program designed to help gardeners create vibrant container plantings.
Nikki Keltner, Program Coordinator with the University of Illinois Extension, will lead a session focused on how to mix annual plants to achieve eye‑catching displays. Participants will learn tips for selecting containers and plants, along with care techniques to ensure containers stay beautiful throughout the growing season.
Following this program on Saturday, May 16 at 9 a.m., Jo Daviess County Master Gardeners, Laurie Gothard-Zueger and Linda Helgeson will hold a “Mixed Container Gardens” class where participants can put skills learned during “Creative Container Gardens” to use as well as learn some other tips and tricks from Laurie and Linda.
