Youth are invited to spend five days learning about plants, insects, and wildlife you might find in your own garden. Join the Master Gardeners in the Children's Auditorium at the Decatur Public Library and get ready for a daily dose of gardening adventures!

This year, we'll explore the garden using all five senses, discovering what we can see, hear, touch, smell, and taste along the way!

To register for this event, please click the "Register Here" button above. This event is limited to the ages of 4-8, and there are only 25 spots available. If you are bringing multiple kids, please register each participant individually. Thank you!

Find more details of each session below.

Monday - What Can We See in the Garden?

We'll learn about the different parts of plants and observe the many things growing around us. Participants will plant flowers and enjoy a fun garden scavenger hunt.

Tuesday - Hear and Move Like Pollinators

We'll discover the important role pollinators play in the garden while moving like our favorite buzzing and fluttering friends. Participants will also create their own insect hotels.

Wednesday - Let's Touch the Soil

We'll explore the garden through touch - feeling leaves, soil, and other natural textures. Participants will also make their own compost jar to see how soil is created.

Thursday - What Can We Smell in the Garden?

We'll visit the herb garden to explore a variety of plant scents and learn how herbs are used. Participants will create a terrarium to take home and care for.

Friday - Garden Celebration: Using All Our Senses

We'll wrap up the week by celebrating everything we've learned with games, activities, and a fun review of our garden discoveries.
