A loaf of sourdough bread with two slices cut, next to a jar of starter and a 4-H logo in the top right corner.

Get ready to mix, bubble, and bake! In this hands-on class, you’ll make your own sourdough starter and learn how to keep it happy and growing at home.

Join U of I Extension Food and Nutrition Educator, Lisa Peterson and discover how tiny microorganisms help sourdough rise, learn some fun sourdough lingo, and find out what all those bread-making tools actually do. You’ll also make a tasty recipe using sourdough discard and take-home recipes so you can keep experimenting in your own kitchen.
