Do you enjoy gardening and want to give back to your community? University of Illinois Extension invites residents of Coles, Cumberland, Douglas, Moultrie and Shelby counties to complete an interest form to learn more about becoming a Master Gardener volunteer.

The Master Gardener program offers opportunities to expand your gardening knowledge, develop new skills and help beautify your community through volunteer service. Training covers topics such as botany, trees and shrubs, plant diseases, insects, soils, fruits, lawns and vegetables.

Classes will be held every Tuesday from February 2 through April 13 at the Coles County Extension Office. Registration closes January 15, so interested individuals are encouraged to complete the interest form as soon as possible.

Completing the interest form is the first step. A program coordinator will contact you with more information about the program and instructions for applying. Financial assistance may be available for training fees.

This opportunity is for residents of Coles, Cumberland, Douglas, Moultrie and Shelby counties. If you live outside these counties, contact your local Extension office for information about Master Gardener opportunities in your area.
If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate, please contact
