William Catalano provides leadership and support to local Extension staff and volunteers in Madison, Monroe, and St. Clair counties. As County Director, he supervises staff, guides program planning and implementation, and builds capacity through strong community partnerships and sound fiscal management. Under his leadership, Extension's research-based programs address some of the most pressing issues within Illinois, including Food, Health, Environment, Community, and Economy, ensuring that Extension programs reach the audiences and communities that need them most.

Mr. Catalano brings a wealth of experience in public service, with a background in economic development, municipal leadership, and community service. He is committed to leading by enhancing support for educators and staff in the field, keeping the Extensions dynamic and adaptable to meet the evolving needs of the people and communities they serve.

Mr. Catalano's decision to pursue the County Director role is grounded in three key attributes that he believes are essential and mutually reinforcing. First and foremost is his genuine desire to serve the people of this region. Having lived and worked in the area, he has gained a deep understanding of its uniqueness and is passionate about contributing to its well-being.
