Alexis McDowell joins University of Illinois Extension Staff in Christian County

Taylorville, Ill. - Lisa Peterson, Extension acting county director, is pleased to introduce Alexis McDowell who has joined Illinois Extension as a 4-H youth development program coordinator serving Christian County in Taylorville, Illinois. She will be coordinating 4-H activities throughout Christian County, such as the 4-H general and livestock shows at the Christian County Agricultural Fair, presenting various workshops, and working with area youth and volunteers.

A native of Nokomis, Alexis attended Lincoln Land Community College where she received her associates degree. She then attended University of Illinois Springfield earning her bachelor’s degree in business administration and earned a master’s degree in education from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Before accepting her current position, Alexis participated in many educational experiences through University of Illinois Springfield.

McDowell stated, “I’m excited to be joining University of Illinois Extension! I have had many positive experiences with University of Illinois through my involvement at UIS. I’m looking forward to working with the community to provide opportunities for youth within Christian County.” In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, and sewing.
