Young people in Lee County will have the opportunity to attend 4-H camps this year as a result of a generous donation from CHS in Rochelle. Following a golf outing, CHS donated $10,000 to support youth attendance at 4-H overnight camp, Illini Summer Academies and the like. “This donation will enable us to offer financial support to youth who would otherwise not be able to attend camp and have the tremendous learning experience that 4-H offers,” said Janice McCoy, county director.
4-H is the nation’s premier youth development program committed to giving young people a place to belong, develop independence, be generous members of the community, and demonstrate mastery in areas that interest them. Locally, 4-H is one of the flagship programs for University of Illinois Extension. “4-H is a great place for all children to belong, a place where they can choose projects of interest to them, and work with committed adults to help mentor them along their life journey,” said Martha Ebbesmeyer, youth development educator for Carroll, Lee, and Whiteside Counties.
“University of Illinois Extension’s 4-H program is grateful for the support of CHS,” said McCoy, we depend upon local support to help us reach as many youth as possible with our program opportunities. CHS has been very generous and couldn’t be prouder of their partnership with us.”
