Dog Show Classes Held for 4-H Youth

Youth involved in 4-H showing dogs are encouraged to attend our dog show kick off meeting on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. at the University of Illinois Stephenson County Extension office.  Weekly classes will be held on Wednesdays beginning on May 20, 2020 through July 10, 2020 at the Stephenson County Fairgrounds in the new 4-H Building (Foresight Commercial Building).  Traditional obedience class (Beginner Novice, Preferred Novice and Novice) will begin at 6:00 p.m.  Showmanship will begin at 6:45 p.m. and Rally will begin at 7:00 p.m.  “Through training their dogs in obedience class the 4-Hers learn responsibility, gain confidence, bond with their dog, and gain a sense of accomplishment when they compete in the 4-H dog show at the end of the summer,” states Ann Johnson, DVM and Stephenson County 4-H Dog Superintendent.  The Stephenson County 4-H Dog Show will be held Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. at the Stephenson County Fairgrounds in the new 4-H Building (Foresight Commercial Building).
