Growing Great Grapes

grapes on a vine

Join University of Illinois Extension Educator Grant McCarty as he presents “Growing Great Grapes” as part of the Spring Break Gardening Series. This program is taking place on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 starting at 6 p.m. at the Jo Daviess County Extension Office, 204 Vine St. Elizabeth, IL 61028. There will be a $5 fee to attend. Pre-registration is requested. To register or for more information call us at 815-858-2273 or register directly at go.illinois.edu/Grapes.

Wine vs table? Cordon vs Cane? Growing grapes can be intimidating. Since the plant can live for decades, early decisions will ensure you have greater success for years to come. This presentation will provide you with an introduction of the opportunities that await and the challenge you might face in grape production. Varieties, setup, disease management, and pruning will also be discussed.

This program is a part of the Spring Break Gardening Series. Other topics being covered in the series include “Spring Centerpieces”, “Rainwater Management with Native Plants”, and “Spring Invasive and Nuisance Plants”. You can get more information about all of these programs by calling us at 815-858-2273.

If you need a reasonable accommodation to attend this event please call us at 815-858-2273. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time to meet your needs.
