HILLSBORO, Ill. – Local staff at University of Illinois Extension of Montgomery County nominated The Journal-News of Hillsboro as a 2022 Community Partner. The Journal-News was selected for its exemplary service to University of Illinois Extension. They have helped promote programs throughout the years and are always willing to run our news articles. Most importantly, they even lent a hand in making our 4-H program, The Story Project, successful. They assisted with the program by proofreading and publishing stories and photos our 4-H members wrote. Their staff even served as volunteer instructors for Story Project and continue to help with workshops and judge our 4-H shows.

“The Journal-News has always supported our local Extension throughout the years. Whether it be reporting on our events, financial donations, or their services, they are always there for us,” said Elisha Hughes, Montgomery County 4-H program coordinator. University of Illinois Extension serving Christian, Jersey, Macoupin, and Montgomery Counties is exceptionally proud to be able to provide this award to The Journal-News and to thank them for their service to Extension.

This award is sponsored by the Extension Council of University of Illinois Extension serving Christian, Jersey, Macoupin, and Montgomery Counties. The council plans to recognize a community partner throughout our four counties each year. Extension Council is a volunteer board that serves in an advisory role cooperating with Extension staff in planning, promoting, developing, implementing, evaluating, and financing an Extension program designed to meet the needs, interests, and resources of the local communities.

ABOUT EXTENSION: Illinois Extension leads public outreach for University of Illinois by translating research into action plans that allow Illinois families, businesses, and community leaders to solve problems, make informed decisions, and adapt to changes and opportunities.
