Put Ready…Set…Grow…Back on Your March Calendars for 2022

DIXON, Ill.---On Saturday, March 19, 2022, the University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners of Carroll, Lee, Ogle, and Whiteside Counties will be hosting the 2022 Ready…Set…Grow… gardening workshop from 9:00 a.m. to Noon at the Loveland Community Building, 513 W 2nd St., Dixon.

This year’s keynote address: The Lore and Lure of Spring Wildflowers, will focus on spring wildflowers and how they produce a dramatic show from late March through late May. Few things in nature beautify the woods more than the wildflowers. They are more than just décor, for wildflowers feed insects, birds, animals and even humans.

Our keynote speaker is Nancy Gmitro, a Carroll County Master Gardener and Master Naturalist. She will take you on a tour of her favorite spring wildflowers during the presentation. Nancy is a real asset to the Master Gardener program through her willingness to take on challenging projects. She always adds an enjoyable educational element in everything she does.

Ready…Set…Grow… will also offer two breakout sessions, swag bag, book nook, door prizes, and a Master Gardener Help Desk. Breakout sessions include: Don’t Kill Your Tomatoes, Success with Succulents, Eastern Bluebirds, Hands-on Contained Compositions, Hardy Perennial Vegetable Crops for the Midwest, and “Are My Trees and Plants in Trouble?”. The fee for this program is $25, and registrations will be accepted until March 9, 2022.
