Youth and families interested in exploring all that 4-H has to offer are invited to attend the Stephenson County 4-H Information Night on Monday, October 20, at 6 p.m. at the University of Illinois Extension Office, South Lobby of Building R, Highland Community College, 2998 W. Pearl City Road, Freeport.
This informal meeting is designed for:
- Families interested in learning what 4-H is all about
- Families planning to join and wanting to know more before getting started
- Current 4-H families who still have questions
We look forward to welcoming you and helping you discover all the opportunities 4-H has to offer!
In 4-H, youth ages 5 to 18 build skills for success at home, in school, and in their communities while exploring project areas ranging from cooking and robotics to animal care, the environment, leadership, and more. Members are supported by caring volunteers and Extension staff as they set goals, pursue personal interests, and gain confidence. With more than 80 project areas to choose from and 10 local clubs in Stephenson County, there’s truly something for everyone.
“4-H empowers young people to discover their spark while developing lifelong skills in leadership, communication, and service,” said Jen Schultz, Stephenson County 4-H Program Coordinator. “Our information night is the perfect opportunity for families to see what makes 4-H such a unique and valuable program for youth in our community.”
Through 4-H, members can also take part in a wide variety of experiences beyond their clubs, including leadership conferences, state competitions, national conventions, 4-H camp, 4-H shows, Super Saturday, and community service projects.
