University of Illinois Extension recognize accomplishments of members

TAYLORVILLE, Ill. – University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners in Christian County were honored at an annual recognition banquet Nov. 7 at Venezia Italian Restaurant, Taylorville.

Master Gardener were recognized for their years of service during the banquet.

Gwen Podeschi was recognized for 23 years of service.

Karen Cherry was recognized for 21 years of service.

Linda Smith was recognized 8 years of service.

Master Gardener volunteers recognized for 5 years of service were Janet Chiavaro; Sharon Hill; and Sandra Klein.

Master Gardener volunteers recognized for 2 years of service were Janet and Mike McClure.

University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners use research-based information to education the public on best horticultural practices. Christian County Master Gardeners expanded their outreach efforts this year to hosting a help desk at the Taylorville Farmer’s Market.
